Infant Program
Ages 6 weeks - 18 months
Full-Day program: 7:45 am – 6:00 pm
This program is designed for infants and young toddlers ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 months, and is directed by a Montessori teacher specifically trained in Infant/Toddler development. Because the type and quality of early interactions has a long lasting effect on a child’s future development, our goal is to create a responsive environment – one that answers the needs of the young child on all levels, whether it be development of language skills, establishing a strong secure attachment with his or her caregiver, or fostering independence. This is the time when children begin to organize their world and learn problem solving techniques.
The support of curiosity and exploration is paramount and explains why children are not confined to swings and walkers in the Montessori setting. Because of this, the child learns mastery of his or her environment, and through this mastery, gains trust, confidence, and self-esteem.
Finally, this is an environment that spontaneously encourages social development, and as the children learn about their relationships with their classmates, the Infant Directress acts as a role model and teaches respect and caring for others.
